Featuring the rapid chattering of several house martins and their offspring. Recorded at the end of summer as they prepare for an enduous journey south to Northern Africa for the Winter. The habitat is an old, corrugated iron, drafty barn where the house martins have made and reused mud nests along the beams and rafters.
You'll hear lots of sudden alarm calls where the house martins vocalise all at the same time particularly when a house martin swoops into the barn.
Most of the recordings are from within the barn where the sounds have been recorded passively. Two recordings have also been included from outside of the barn where a number of the house martins swirl and dart through the sky together vocalising differently to within the barn.
